Cool Conversion Ready for Bombing!

24VETC to 24VETH?

I picked up an NV5600 at auction a while back with the intention of building a 2WD Chevy 4BT conversion (I know. . overkill on the trans, but at least 5th gear won't fall off). I don't know what the transmission came out of (year,2WD,4WD,etc), other than that it came out of a CTD. I changed my mind on the conversion, swapping it for another project. Before selling the trans, I'd like to know of there's a way to identify it. Were there ever any changes to this unit, like number of splines, length, etc? Can they be used in either 2WD or 4WD applications, or were the shafts/cases different?

Any help appreciated.

All right this is what I've found so far

The durable, cast iron main case is the largest and heaviest of the three housings. It covers the bulk of the geartrain. At the rear of the NV5600 is the extension housing on 2WD applications or the adapter housing on 4WD vehicles. It too is made of cast iron.

and if it looks like this it's 4wd, I think, I'll have to check my manuals at home

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Well, I measure a 1 3/8 input shaft and 800mm in length. Also the output shaft doesn't extend out of the rear extension housing like the pics of the 2WD one. Looks like it's a 4WD with a later model input shaft.

OK... I give up. . I tried to attach a pic, but it just won't appear. I dopn't get an error message or anything. . it just doesn't show up. Sorry for the edits.

Hi DogDiesel,

No, no flywheel or adapter. Just a bell housing.

TurboTim has already claimed it though.

This was better than placing a classified ad!! :)

Boy Howdy, for a minute there I thought you guys were buying and selling in the forums... ... ... ... ... ... I sure am glad I was wrong! :-laf

Well... . while not on purpose, it did sell as a result of the post. I was expecting to do the ebay thing... As soon as I figured out what it was.

Maybe this discussion should be moved to the classifieds. :)
