Competition OBX Speeway Diesel Shootout

Anyone know of any? I think I broke one or both launching too hard on clay this weekend.

Everything drivetrain and engine wise is a-ok except no go at all. A lot like zero clutch except I still have pedal pressure and can row the gears fine (clutch and transmission seem intact) so I think it's input shaft and likely flywheel... . judging by a significant volume of sparks coming out the breather gap at the bottom of the bellhousing. . but only if I put it in gear and let the clutch "engage". Maybe the clutch too; will have it a apart in a day or two. But the clutch feels ok. So I suspect there's only pieces of a flywheel for it to grab.

A very loud and instantaneous BANG and no go.

From the sound of it, I'd venture to say it's only an input shaft. Call Peter at South Bend. He sells input shafts (along with Haisley's, Enterprise, etc. . ).

EDIT: got my numbers backwards...

My 12v snapped a 1-1/4 shaft (previous owner). 1-3/8 snaps aren't as common.

Congrats on the carnage. My snapped shaft if a trophy of sorts.

i thought thats why 5spd guys ditched the 1-1/4" for the bigger 1-3/8" because its stronger

Correct. I had my numbers backwards. I went back and changed that. He should already have the 1-3/8" shaft.

I've got a 99 with a NV-5600 (factory), and it's got the 1-1/4 shaft unlike the newer 5600's which came with the 1-3/8" shaft. I suppose that's why I get "cornfused".

Talked to SBC and they're thinking input shaft and/or splines on the clutch since everything rotates so freely. They're quite fair and reasonable on the input shaft and clutch rebuild... I just have to get it apart. May haul it down to Floor-It. I'd rather have someone that knows pullin' look at it then pay 3 days labor for a local guy to stare at it w/o a clue. Even with the driving back and forth I think it'd be cheaper then paying a bunch of labor for stuff I don't need and blank stares.

If I had a place to work on it it'd be so much better... this is one of those things I can't do on my sloped driveway w/o a lift.

Running the DD 4200 ceramic buttons... wondering if I should go iron giant but then it wouldn't be too friendly on the street.

Holy cow that's a stout clutch...

The 1-1/4 shaft that broke on mine was with an Enterprise Dual Disc (4th gear hammer down). No spring relief on the plates. I assume yours may be the same way?

with the price of these things i think i am definitely going to hold on to my spare 5600... if i ever get in a bind and need some money i can always sell it because there is a demand for them
