NV5600 Main shaft preload?

Does any body know what the preload should be on the main shaft of a NV5600? Counter shaft to. First check was . 0013 of end play.

My '04 service manual says:

"5) Install shims necessary to achieve an end-play
of 0-0. 10 mm (0-0. 004 in. ) for the mainshaft and
countershaft.
NOTE: Countershaft shims go between the bearing
race and spacer. Mainshaft shims go into the input
shaft retainer. "

I sure would have guessed it needed to have some preload and no end play. Like a rear diff.
