Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV5600 oil ?

Changing the oil in my 5600 and was wondering if there is anything a little better for it other than the mopar stuff. I thought I heard that the Redline MT oil is good and people notice better shifting. Any ideas anyone?

I've tried both Redline and Amsoil in mine - and rapidly switched BACK to the OEM stuff each time - too much grinding of gears in my case, perhaps you will do better with yours...

I see various part numbers out there so I am unsure what the "OEM" stuff is. Are you putting in the Pennzoil Synchromesh? Or are you putting in something else?

I get mine right over the Dodge dealership parts counter - the OEM stuff totally has beat all the aftermarket stuff I tried. But these trannies vary widely in what lube works best from one to another - mine just happens to prefer the OEM stuff...

I've been running Redline MTL for about 10kmiles. After the change I did notice it slipped into gear easier. Not sure if it was just from getting fresh fluid or from the MTL itself. I've been happy with it so far.

I have the royal purple in mine, and I'm not to happy with it. doesn't seem to shift any better than the oem stuff did. Next time I'm either going back to the oem stuff or trying the redline mtl

I tried the Redline MTL and changed back to the OEM lube fairly soon. It was grinding the gears pretty bad. Plus it's just as expensive as the Mopar stuff.

I am getting ready to put Amsoil Synchromesh in mine. We shall see.

I'm running Amsoil in mine for about 15k miles with no issues. Don't really remember if it made much difference in the shift feel.

I have ran most of them. OEM seems to last a little longer then the others.
Redline was second best, followed by Royal Purple.

For my transmission, I just need to change it out every 20k or so.
That tells me I have too much heat in the transmission to be killing synthetic fluids that fast.

I just got the truck back from getting it's new SB DD, in the process I went with redline and a short shift kit. I only drove a few km's home but I 'm impressed so far. I 'm go to function test it today I post my results.
