i am looking for oil for my truck I do not want to may dc for it as i think that i can get the correct oil some where else has anybody found where ahd what will work

AMSOIL's Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF). It is recommended for the NV5600. Not knowing what truck you have I checked the 2005 DODGE RAM 2500 with the NV5600 and it requires 9. 5 pints (5 quarts) to fill. It also has a 50,000 to 150,000 Mile drain interval depending on how you drive.

Performance Features:

• Reduces friction, heat and wear

• Superior high temperature stability

• Resists heat, oxidation, acid buildup and varnish

• Improves cold weather shifting

"APPLICATIONS: Recommended for automotive and light truck applications that require synchromesh transmission fluid. Applications include manual transmissions and transaxles such as New Venture NV T350, NV 1500, NV 2550, NV 3500, NV 3550, NV 5600" <--- right from the AMSOIL WEB PAGE. I hope this helps. -Jason

Since you are going to be chaning the oil. I don't know how you use your truck for, but if you do towing I would recomend getting a set of fast coolers.

Penzoil Syncromesh Manual Transmission Fluid

Penzoil Stock #3501 has the Chrysler part number on it, 4874464, spec. MS9224. Check your owners manual for the above numbers. Little bit hard to find. I have seen it Autozone, but I get it by the case from a local commercial oil distributor.

Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid is available at many auto parts stores... it is probably the closest to the stock fluid you'll find.

Royal Purple Synchromax, Amsoil MTF, Red Line MTL are synchromesh fluid... these have slightly different viscosities, and will each affect shifting quality differently.

Each NV5600 is unique in respect to the oil that works best... what works in one, might not work in another.

As noted, Fast Coolers do help with heat... I have a set on my NV5600.

I assume you have already verified you have a NV5600?

I changed to Redline MTL. I noticed an improvement in shifting at first. I think now it's back to the same as with the stock fluid which is fine for me. I've read that a problem with the 5600s is the bearing at the front getting starved for oil when pulling steep hills. I pulled the shift tower and added an extra quart. The filter kit from Quad4x4 works well to keep the wear metals etc. out of the oil.

Everybody told me I was an idiot, but I ran 5w-30 motor oil for a year and 40k miles Not one mile was under 400HP and when I went to rebuild the trans for a bigger input shaft everything was perfect. I just replaced teh synchro's and intalled a new input shaft...

I am now running synchro mesh but the shifting sucks compared to my 5w-30... .

What oil were you running?

I know that before there was a suitable replacement for the Mopar oil, guys ran synthetic 5w30. The only concern was that the motor oil wasn't shear stable... but a lot of guys ran it with good results!

Has anyone tried Torco's racing trans fluid (RTF)?

I believe I read about some guys running the Torco fluid in the NV5600 with very good results... although I have never been able to find it for sale locally... I know I read about it on this site, somewhere!

Amsoil.

I ran the Amsoil series 3000 5w30 HDD for quite some time. I now run the Amsoil MTF. I have put about 295k on the trany so far and it's still going (lots of towing too).

Because you don't have to change the fluid that often, why not just put in the recommended Mopar fluid.

Some NV5600s don't respond well to the Mopar fluid, and some NV5600s "wear" the fluids out faster than others.

I doubt I could shift my 5600 with factory fluid...
