What is the final word on the issue of whether to overfill the NV5600 transmission or not?

2000 Dodge 2500, QC, SB, 5.9 Cummins, NV5600, plus several mods.

From what I remember the NV5600 lube issues are that the lube doesn't get where it needs to, not the level. I believe Standard Transmission came up with a fix for it. It involved some machine work to shafts and gears if I remember correctly. Might give them a call.

The overfill is supposed to help lube the bearing that doesn't get quite enough oil supplied to it when towing . There is an updated shaft I think that allows the oil to reach the bearing without over filling

I did not overfill it, but used the auxiliary "spacers" under the PTO covers for more capacity. The Std. Trans. Power Lube package sends more lube to the bearing and works well. I had them rebuild mine and install the PLP after 122k miles iirc and it was worth it. Check out the TDR issues-- 64, and 67 I think had the reports.

I have overfilled my transmission throughout its life - so far 280,000 miles worth since I bought the truck new. The transmission still performs well, but I will probably have the same work done as Joe Donnelly did when it is time.
