Sometimes long cranking

Hey Guys,

I recently had my NV5600 rebuilt by Standard Transmission and Gear. Since the rebuild, I've had a lot of trouble getting the truck to go into first gear. Most of the time, I have to put the shifter in third or another gear before it will even go into first. Sometimes, I can't even get it into first - it just won't push up into the gear. In those cases, I've been forced to use second. Doesn't seem to differ when cold vs operating temp.

Since the rebuild, I have also had a problem with the gear shifter popping out of reverse while backing DOWN grades. This happens with my foot completely off the clutch, and hand completely off the shifter.

This transmission has been rebuilt twice, most recently this year. Truck has less than 250k miles on it. Could these symptoms be the clutch, or are they most likely transmission issues? I wanted to get your input before I give the trans shop a call.

Thanks!

A dragging clutch could make it harder to get into gear, but I don't think it would have anything to do with the transmission popping out of gear.
You might try shifting the transmission with the engine not running. (no drag from the engine) to eliminate this possibility.
Don't worry about calling standard transmission. There good folks who will be more than happy to help.
