nv5600 question

I have a question for all who know, I never been under any other truck with a nv5600. But I had a fellow tell me mine was smaller than others he had seen. Is there any difference in the nv5600 from the time they came out what like 01 or something and to there reign ended 05. 5. just curious if something is different?

It is possible you have the G56 which looks different from the NV5600 if your reverse is to the left than it is a G56 if its to the right than it will be the NV5600. For early 05 the NV5600 was used and latter was the G56, Dodge had issues with the G56 early on with production and had a recall on the trans, I think it was oil levels causing failure, I might be wrong on the recall but Dodge did have issues in which no standard trans were available in mid year production. Look at the first thread in third Gen and it explains the differences in detail.

The input shaft got bigger, and the synchros better.

The NV is rusty iron, the G56 is aluminum.

I know I have a nv5600. I was just asking if anything was different between 2nd and 3rd gens and there is not. Me and the other guy that said something looked different between the two checked it out today and there is no difference just must have been a visual impairment by the other fellow no big deal, not everybody can be perfect. ha ha ha

If your friend has a 2wd his trany will be longer, there are two types due to the tight tolerances for the transfer case in the 4X4.
