question on nv5600 while in gear the ammount of play the shifter has. has never popped out of gear shifts fine just seems to have 3/4+ movement. is this normal with miles. I have never took apart the top have on the shifter so is there a bushing that is wore down. is this a no big deal thing or is this a early bad sign.

I have about 1/2" side to side when in gear, is that what you mean? It never gave me a problem, except I tend to push it to to far over and can't hit reverse until I bring it back some, maybe 1/4" inch. That is my only problem/complaint with my 5 speed. I was going to put a short throw, but I heard there could be problems with them so I an sticking with a stock shifter.

DW,

Mine has about 3/4" guessestimated front to back movement at the knob. Trans has about 68K on it, stock shifter.

NV4500's have had two different shift tower types, my '97 shifts like a old truck, long loose throws, NV5600 much tighter.

I have a BD short shifter & it's wonderful for me. Not much slop at the shift knob.

so I take it this is normal over time but is this a bushing issue I have never looked at the shift lever and how its put together. wondering if there is a bushing in there somewhere or at the end that would tighten this up. I know when I first bought the truck it was tighter. but I have over 150k on the truck now.
