What are the specs for our 6 spd clutches? I had mine out years ago but didn't think to count splines or anything. I found a new clutch kit for $200 on Ebay that is a Luk 05-118. I have tried to look it up but can't find any definitive info. I also found one on partsgeek.com that is $205 with the listed part # of 1986-07083761 and another one on the same site that claims to be cerametallic for $350 with the part #1986-07083771. Anyone help, please?

My OEM has lasted for 170k miles and I'm not planning on any more mods or anything and $$ is always an issue. It's still running strong but I have noticed a little less bite when launching empty and I have the time now so I might as well do it. When I rebuilt the motor 60k miles ago I noticed wear on the diapragm springs and I also pulled apart the dried out throwout bearing and re-greased it. I was way short on cash at that time or I would have just gone ahead and replaced it then.

TIA

I should also note that I pull horses, mostly. I read on here somewhere that the ceramatallic or other more aggresive clutches couild be hard pulling livestock. Another part # I found is 05-101. I do believe this is the OEM replacement. Correct?

The LUK 05-118 is a 5spd clutch, 12. 3" x 1 1/4" input shaft 10 spline... . yours (6spd) is 13" x 1 3/8" input shaft 10 spline.

The two part # you listed from partsgeek.com are the stock 6spd clutches one is organic and one is metallic.

Just for reference for your own sake, look up SD80264 and SD80264HD on O'Rileys web site. They have good pictures. Look real good at the difference in quality of the two. One is the stock replacement and the other is a heavy duty version. Look real close at the hub. The stock one has 4 heavy springs and two small ones, 4 torque pins and light duty webbing that the friction material is attached to. The HD has 8 heavy springs, 8 torque pins and heavy webbing.

Thanks for those Sachs #'s. Do they stack up pretty good against LuK? I called O'reilly's about these 2 parts and they are both special order only but for a pretty good price. The oem is $160 and the HD is $235. How do they comapre? Does anyone out there run a Sachs? How long and what for?

O'reilly's claims they can't get them in. I think I'll go with the whole kit from LuK. Unless someone talks me out of it soon... ... ... ... ;)

I don't think you can go wrong with the stock OEM clutch. They seem to hold up well for the most part. I have 208,000 on my '01. I tow heavy and have good power with no problems so far.

The stock HO clutch will hold the power of an Edge EZ and stock injectors. It will NOT hold the power of an Edge EZ and DD2 injectors. Ask me how I know... . :{

I suggest you call South Bend Clutch. They can supply anything from stock replacement on up, and will get you a clutch that fits you needs.

I found the limits of my stock clutch on the '01 HO just like Rusty did, with DD2s and van Aaken box :-laf

IMO South Bend is he only way to go. . . love the SB clutch in my '96.
