Nv5600 Swap

great news, my father in law's 2001 r3500 just had the front end ripped off by a tahoe that ran a stop sign (don't worry- he's ok). he got the truck back from the insurance co. and now there's a 6-spd within reach. my question is what do i need to pull off his truck to complete the swap. the rest of the drivetrain is for sale also if anyone's interested.

For a "no cost" swap:

trans/bellhousing, shifter

clutch, flywheel, hydraulics, block plate, starter

crossmember



you will need to adapt the hydraulic cylinder for your clutch pedal, and the crossmember may be partially usable; graft it to ends that bolt to your frame.

don't forget the GPS so you'll know how fast you're going... no provisions for a speedo cable on the 5600. (don't let that stop you though! unless you wanna trade for an NV4500 setup w/ an OFE clutch... I've got everything you'd need! )

Did he have a 2 or 4 wheel drive? If 4wd, better just let me have it as you have a 2wd and it won't work... .

On these trucks that have the nv5600 bolted to them, how do we get our speed reading if there isn't a speedometer hook up?

Mine drives off the transfer case. (205). I have drawings for a cross member. If you take the drawings to a place that has a CNC plasma cutter or torch they can cut the 3 pieces out. Then weld them together. It will also give you more room for your exhaust. It bolts on to outside of frame instead of inside allowing more room.

Please let me know if he would like to get rid of his radio or the overhead console. I would like to put the compass and temp sensor in my 93 along with a new radio. My wife is layin it on me hard that she LOVES that truck and dosent want to sell it just wants a new radio... ... .
