Has anyone converted their truck to a auto? I would like to convert mine(04'), but i'm not too sure what would needed to do it right the first time. Any input would be greaty appreciated. I REALLY dont want to sell the truck and buy another one. Theres way too much time and money involved in this one.

Any way you slice it, it's going to cost less to switch trucks.

I know someone who did it to his. It involved the trans, transfer case, front and rear drive shafts, a new ECM, and the correct interior bits to make it function properly. It cost him $12,000+ to do it.

I suppose you could recover some $$ by selling your trans to someone, but I don't think you'll get too much.

I have looked into this a couple of times, as I really get frustrated trying to haul arse with a six-speed. The auto guys have it too good. In fact, I might go look at an '05 Patriot Blue auto today...

I have pondered this as well. TJ Macpherson (TJSHOTROD) just did an auto from his 6spd in a second gen. I think it was around 8k but Im not sure, someone swapped him trannys as well which really helped a bunch with cost even though he put a suncoast billet race transmission in it.

shop around the transmission shops/builders. some probably have a kit conversion price.

if i recall, in my area NADP had a deal, i think around $6k? to do the conversion. i think that included the exchange on my 6speed

I'm thinking to bite the bullet and order a 06' 2500 Quad LWB. Dont need the training wheels anymore cause I just bought a 2003 Furd F-550 V-10 6spd 4x4 for really cheap. It'll probalby never get out of 4LO :-laf .

How seroius are you? I really wish mine was a six speed, just like having control over the shifts. Mine is an 05 Auto Black Dually(should just trade trucks lol)... . Jason

This is one of those situations where the old saying "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" is appropriate. (BTW, I work in the aviation business, so this saying applies a lot for us).
