I replaced the clutch on my '03 with a South Bend DD. My factory Dodge manual does not publish a torque spec for bolting the transmission to the engine. I checked in the NV4500 section and for transmission to engine, it states 80 ft. lbs. Is this correct? Seems too high. I started tightening to 80, and it just does not feel right. The bell housing is aluminum, so I do NOT want to strip the threads. The bolt looks like about a grade 8 steel. Anyone know the the correct torque?
BTW, the NV5600 looks even bigger out of the truck. It is truly a monster. For any of you do-it-yourselfers, be advised, this beast weighs 490 lbs. It can kill you if it falls on you. DO NOT USE a cheap transmission jack. Our jack actually started to fail on us, even though it was rated @ 1K. Good thing we had the transmission already bolted in already.
I have included some pics.
Thanks, Bill
