I have a 2002 nv5600 in my truck. The top cover keeps breaking the molded in hard rubber seal. Seems to last about 3-4kmiles then it goes. I torqued the bolts according to the dodge manual.

The darn thing is easy to replace but costs about 55dollars each time. The only thing I know to do is to seperate the rubber from the aluminum and machine a plastic seal. The problem is I have asked around and no one else is having this problem and I'd like to know whats causing it.

you are talking about the shifting tower ??

is the shifter one of the quick shifters [BD or other brand ? ]

are the hold off there ? they look like a 357 casing and go in the rubber holes to hold the proper height and not over compress the tower top to the case top

Gary.

Its the piece under the shift tower that they call the shift tower isolator. I ordered another one. I like the standoff idea. I am going to modify the new one with some standoffs in the 4 holes so it will only compress so far. Thank you for the idea. Getting satellite internet tomorrow. It will be nice to look at some of the pictures guys post. I have to avoid pictures and video. A while back you sent me an e-mail about some woodworking. Tied my computer up for almost 90 minutes. Never did get to see the picture. Dodgezilla is doing well. A little cooler than my 35 at 30 to 40 lbs.

The factory set up uses stand offs in the tower and rubber shift tower isolator. If you don't have them in there, the tower will break. Even with the stand offs in the tower, the tower will distort over time in the corners. If you're going to make them, I can get you the dimensions of the factory ones. Better yet, if you can find somebody that installed a BD short-shifter, they should have 4 stock ones that they removed.

So if the standoffs don't come with the isolator do you have to buy the shift tower to get them?I have to go down to the dealer tomorrow to get the new isolator I'll look at their pictures and see if I can find the standoffs. I would very much appreciate info on the dimensions of the standoffs if I can't get them from the dealer. I own a machine shop so it would be easy to make them if I knew what they looked like.

Here you go Ron

Ron, you should be able to buy the bushings separately. I believe the Mopar P/N is 5003 212A. It's called a Bushing, Gearshift lever. It looks like a steel tube with a wide flange(like a washer) on one end. OAL is . 770", I. D. is about . 262", O. D. is . 402". The flange on the top is . 058" thick, with a O. D. of . 590"

I guess the best way to describe it is a steel tube with a washer on one end. Hope this helps.

feature a drilled out hole on a 357 casing. . like drilling out the primer hole a bit more. . and now you have the pic of what they look like... if you can't get them I have a set as I have the BD installed
