Just did a drain and change on my trans fluid. The stuff I had in there was Redline MTL. After about 50K miles, it was clear, looked like it was brand new. No particles, no crap, nothing. Needless to say, Redline is what I refilled with. I'm not selling the stuff; just posting my own experience. I tow lightly (1-6K) over the highways. The trans shifts like butter. Your driving style and results may well differ.

Issues on alternative brand vs OEM NV5600 fluid seem to be mostly related to maintaining proper syncro operation - some fluids created poor shifting and gear clash when shifting, and all trannies didn't necessarily respond the same way with various brands - sounds like you have one that works great with your specific 5600 - good luck!

Unless you did an UOA you have no idea if the good looking old oil was the required 30 weight or sheared down to 10 weight. The NV5600 is known for sheering even AMSOIL down. 50K per change is high miles on oil with this in mind. Stick with what brand works in your trans.

Also the trans should be overfilled by 1 quart.
