If they want to keep pulling in semi-pro classes, a lot will have them this year!

Enterprise has custom fit 5 and 6 speed blankets, and Summit Racing has one that will work on the 5 speeds, not sure about the 6 speeds.

Don't you remember the preaching of two seperate clutch sellers last September? Even the guys getting grocerys with 500hp should have blankets!!!!

What About...

Does the scatter blankey rule apply for otto trannys 2???

Do torque converters blow?

I distinctly remember Peter talking about the importance of a blanket for the bell housing on a manual trans. He was surprised this had been overlooked at the time.

Yes, it applys to autos.

It was never overlooked, it was put off, becuase these classes were evolveing from street classes. And nobody wanted to lock out the daily driver.

Well, the horsepower levels have exceeded daily driver class, regardless if the truck is used everyday or not. Same thing the dragracers are finding out with the NHRA, eh?

Get this- the ATPA Pro Stock Diesel, class last year? Safety out the whazoo, well, they let gassers into that class this year, banned twin turbos, and RELAXED the safety rules on trucks with plates and registration.

Seems the ATPA puts revenue in front of safety.

Hey Gene that isn't what would be required of a street class is it?

That is for majorly modified trucks like yours right?

What would be required of a street class?

"2003 Northwest(PA) Hot Stock Diesel 4x4 Truck Rules "

It was going to be called Modified Street, but the insurance agent didn't like that name.

There is a street class, gas or Diesels, 6300 pounds, single turbo stock appearing, meaning if the tech guy doesn't catch it,it is stock appearing. No weights, no brush gaurds, no traction bars, etc, etc.

The Hot Stock Diesel class is designed for trucks one step away from roll cages, tube frames, pulling tires, and fiberglass bodies.

If you can't fit into those two classes, good old exhibition is still available.

And what? My truck is not majorly modified! It is sitting outside covered in salt and snow, plugged in to the house!!

If the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan trucks make it for these pulls, I will get a butt kicking in my own back yard.

That has been a rumor for 3 years.

We will still crush him!!!

Frank will end up with Ford sheet metal only, eventually.

You want to know whats funny?

He could put an N-14 Cummins in that thing, and the Ford guys would say "Good runnin PSD"

Oh well, as long as they paid to get in, and are having a good time, thats what counts.

I heard from a realiable source that he is putting a dt 466 in.

Sleddy email me your vids

Drive shaft loops

As near as I can decipher the NTPA drive shaft loop rules, this is what I came up with.

This is for Modified FWD Drive trucks, so should be accepted just about everywhere you go.

I'm giving you steel rules only, aluminum is too much typing.

U-joint sheilds.

5/16" thick.

Must be within 1/4" of gear box.

Must extend a min. of 4" past centerline of U-Joint.

Shaft Loops.

5/16" thick.

3/4" wide or wider, 3 per shaft. (short shaft on ex cab could have just two loops, just so if carrier bearing breaks, it won't fall on the ground. )

End loops must be no farther than 6" from U-Joint shield.

Any loop or sheild must not be farther away than 2" in all directions from shaft.

2 piece is allowed. (Two bolts on each side, grade 5 or better. )

At the yokes, attaching to diff housing is suggested, so loops will go up and down with diff, no binding.
