Competition DHRA Sled Pulling, July 30th

I posted this in Regional events for Northeast as well:

I am most likely moving to New York next year. I was wondering how often truck pulls take place up there, especially around the Syracuse/ finger lakes area. That is something I would really miss about Indiana, being able to go to truck pulls almost every week in the summer. TIA

There are quite a few out that way, thet had some big ones at the Syracuse fair grounds last weekend. All the local fairs have them especially in the central part of the state. I think the ATPA has a few out just south of the Finger lakes. They may not be the caliber of the midwest but we'll just have to work on that.

By the way, we've got some pretty good Super Stock farm tractor pulls over my way coming up next month, big black smokers! :D Let me know when you get out this way, we'll have to hook up for some pulls.

I will either be living up near Oswego or in Syracuse, and working in Syracuse. Most of my family lives up there. Thats good to hear that if there is a county fair then there is a truck pull which is what Im used to. I will let you know if I move up or not. Would be nice to have TDR connections up there. I went to a diesel shop in Syracuse this winter to get some fuel treatment and asked if many guys had their trucks turned up. He said "enough" and that the DOT was really strict. Whats the story on that? They leave us alone around here.

I'm up near Saratoga and Lake George so we get quite a few yuppies up here, especially in the summer, I've never had a problem but I've had a few Volvos try to pass me because I've pulled in front of them and sped up so I wasn't in their way... Guess they didn't like the little bit of smoke I put out! :D

The worst part is probably trying to find a good shop, there aren't many around. I think a guy could do really well with a diesel performance shop around my area if he was up on the lastest and greatest. Our local shop is still pushing pusher pumps for 24 valves! Not that that is bad but there is better. I think your soon to be area has a better supply of good shops.

I've never had any trouble with the cops around me, infact most of them wave at me, but it's a totally different area than Syracuse. Definantely let me know if you come up this way, I'll find you some good hick fairs and we'll head down to the New England boys get togethers for some good times.

I am probably 2 1/2 to 3 hours from Oswego but that's not that far for some good diesel times.

Hi TrqMonster, I live in Minoa, just east of Syracuse. I haven't found a diesel

"speed shop" yet, but I do most of my own work. The local Cummins shop was prickly when went in looking for a bigger turbo (pre-TDR). I haven't had a DOT or police problem yet. Brookfield Wheel Days in madison county is in sept. I think. They pull everything and anything down there, garden tractors, big tractors, trucks, modified all of the above. If you move back, let me know,

I am trying to promote more TDR get togethers in this area.

Well as far as shops I guess I can always bring my stuff back to Terre Haute if its something I cant do, like when Scheids did the fire-rings on my truck. When is that event in Sept as I will be up there first week or so.

So if there arent to many shops that support the habit, how turned up are the trucks at the truck pulls? Mainly plate and fuel box modifications?

I've got an Edge Comp and pulled 272' next was 274' next was 284 and 1st was 308'. 1st and 2nd were Dodges and third was a Chevy. I'd be surprised if I was putting out 300 hp and have done pretty good so far, soon I'll be making some power and breaking parts. There are a few decent trucks around but nothing like I saw last year when I went to Muncie. Around me every Ford guy thinks he's got the baddest truck around! :D

Well I might be joining you soon, at least in breaking parts. I would have to have to plan on pulling a lot just to show the Ford boys whats going on. Around here they know better. :D

I didn't know you were pulling Tim. We have some good local Diesel pulls around here, that you can place with an Edge box. Fords and Chevys are still easy pickings at the small pulls! ;)

Its just a short drive from Glens Falls..... I'm only an hour and a half from the New York border!!! :D

Yeah, Gene I'm pulling, wasted my stock clutch last year trying 3rd low in a 10,000 lbs class with mud terrains. I put my dual disk in a couple months ago and now it's time to build her up. I've got 4. 10 gears so I need to build the horsepower so I can pull 2 high and 4th low. What a blast leaving the line at redline and easing out on the clutch, that was the first time I got to do that. I had a perfectly smooth pull, no bounce just constant pull but I can see in the video replay that the other guys had more speed. A 12 valve running 4-4500 rpm with 35's and 3. 55 gears whooped up on me. If you got any pointers or tips let me know, I posted on the Competition forums and got a little response.

TrqMonster, I'll check the date and let you know for sure. I know only a couple guys who pull, big pipes and plates. :)

Thanks for letting me know about the pull and dates. Maybe if I can get a dual disk by then I will play as well . I will be up on my last vacation before I get married in October. :( :-laf

TrqMonster, got the dates. Sept. 17 and 18, pulls start at 6 p. m. on sat.

Go to www.madisoncounty-fair.com for more info. If you need directions or a short cut let me know. By the way, why ruin a good relationship by getting married? :-laf Next thing you know, she'll be pulling with your truck, or

:{ putting it in a show-n-shine! :D Let me know when you hit town, maybe we can have a coffee meet or something.
