Distilled water would be fine, but how low are you? A couple cups should be ok, but any more than that and you’ll have a measurable impact on the boiling and freezing points of the coolant.

You don’t need to start multiple threads for the same issue.
 
  • john, thanks for the info. Based on what I could see on the reservoir body, it's below "min" level marking. But how much fluid do I need to bring it up to "max",,,,,,unsure. Good news is I'm close to a auto parts store, so I'll get some O A T. As to the 2ned post, my fault, wasn't sure if my question (1) got on the forum; (2) was understood.

As long as there is coolant in the bottle you are good to go - there is no benefit from fill the bottle to the MAX mark, this is a safety margin.
 
Is it O.K. to top off reservoir with water?
