I downloaded some instructions a while back on Fritz's site for inverting the O. D. switch at startup. The article was by Evan A. Beck. It didn't state a year for the truck though.

After I got my manuals (Finally) I noticed the wire colors were a little different. For the 2001 the starter relay wire is yellow not dark blue with a yellow stripe as was mentioned. I also noticed it runs through the clutch in switch which is just a jumper on the AT's.

I hooked the positive of a 24V relay to the wire on the clutch in switch. The negative to ground and then jumpered the ground to common on the relay. Then the orange with white stripe wire coming from the OD switch is tied to N. O. on the relay. At start up the relay activates and gives a ground pulse to the OD switch turning it off. Just pull off the knee plate under the dash and everything is right there. Plenty of room to mount the relay too.

Most people have asked me why I would bother. It's because the memory aint what it used to be and I always forget to shut it off, leaving job sites I usually have my mind occupied, and I usually don't notice till I feel the Cummins lugging.

Want to know the easiest way to do something just ask the laziest person. ;)

I was searching about this, I'm considering it for my truck...

I printed out this page. .

OD Inverter Circuit Page

Hope these aren't dumb questions. .

Are all relays' numbers 85, 86, and so on? If not how do you figure which wires go where?

Has anyone done this and had bad experiences?

-Thanks,

1 ALC,

Check out this thread , it will probably answer your questions. I did this with a plain relay and had problems, so Garrett sent me one that he used and it worked great.
