I've had this happen to me three times now. You go down the road, just minding your own business, and all of a sudden the RPM kicks up, you drop down one or two gears and wonder what the heck happened. I look at the gages and the dash and I see that the O. D. light is on. So, I cycle the switch and all is back to normal.

The first time it happened was in maybe 7 years ago and I didn't pay much attention to it. I figured it was just a electrical glitch. Next time it happened was 3 years ago, going down the I-80. Light load in the back of the truck, nothing overheating, just flat pavement. Then it happened again just the other day.

I have several VHF and UHF transceivers in my cab, but they are all grounded and properly terminated. I have no leaky coax connections and usually only push 50 watts, 100W at the most.

Has anyone else ever experienced such behavior from their 94 and older RAM trucks? Were you able to find out what caused it, and ultimately, resolve the issue?

If your truck was made in Mexico it's likely the ghost of Juan pushing buttons;)

Mine has done it a few times also, I figure it's the same computer glitch that makes Windows crash without reason every once in a while.

I don't know which country my truck was assembled in... .

I'm just glad that Microsoft didn't make my truck. The airbag system would ask me "Are you sure?" before going off.

( see http://www.ihatebillgates.com/mscars.html ) for more on that subject... .

I've learned to live with my truck's very few and occassional glitches as much as Windows XP's rare hiccups.
