I just read a post that suggested to disengage O/D around town and was wondering who of you are doing this. If you are what is your reasoning behind not running in O/D around town. Just looking for opinions, Thanks in advance.

its better for the transmission

to lock out overdrive until cruising speed (55-60)

you can even purchase a device to change the sequence(OD off)

its your choice.

Keep the RPM's in the correct range 1700+ in Overdrive

I always lock it out around town. Like said above, keeps the rpm's up and that's good for the transmission. My other reasoning is, that if I don't everytime I let off the fuel, it shifts up into od and then as soon as I hit it, it will have to shift right back out, that can't be good.

Bob,

Who sells this device to change the sequence. I know with a relay I can make one, but I was unaware anybody sold one.

Thanks.
