Since 99. 9% of my driving is highway I never mess with the O/D off switch. Thought I understood it's operation till today,figured it just locked out high gear. I was cruising about 60 with the OD off,then pushed the button to turn it on,it definately upshifted two gears. Was I just feeling the upshift then TC lockup,or is there something I'm missing?Does the TC lock up in all gears?

When OD is locked out the TC locks in third gear.

What happened was that when you turned the OD lockout off, it shifted to OD direct and then locked up the TCC again. Sometimes, depending on the speed, it gets a little confused and you may think it shifts three times. First it will drop the TCC lockup that it had in 3rd, then it will shift to 4th (OD), and then it will lockup the TCC again. This seems to be a down shift followed by two up shifts. Just an extra added (no extra cost) attraction of these critters. #ad
