One year and 17k miles later, I still get and engine light from soot on the O2 sensor. I'm so sick and tired of trips to the dealer. #@$%! Can anyone tell me if a dpf delete kit will help and if so what would be the best kind?

I'm guessing that your state will start to upgrade their testing of vehicles like WA is starting to... Here, when you bring in a modern diesel for your DEQ check they plug into the ALDL connection and verify all systems and intact and working than do the test... .

My truck would fail if we did a dpf delete...

Soot on the O2 is a problem... but I'm guessing your have some other problem... the location of the O2 is designed by the engineers to put it in the air stream where the heat from the exhaust will keep to clean... .

And yours is not staying clean. . to me, that means a dripping injector or some other problem to let a very rich, amount of unburnt fuel to exit the exhaust and clog it up...

My background takes me back to when O2's first appeared on cars and most of the problems were later tracked back to over rich conditions...

Our 08 did have some upgrade to the EGR valve circuit... from what I can tell by glancing at the truck the EGR is electric with a stepper motor, which means they can crack the valve open or open it up... .

Hope this is some help... . maybe sag2 will see this and comment... . hes a tech in CA, was that San Francisco. .
