Loud Metallic Tick at Idle

I own a 2012 2500 4X4 6.7 diesel, bought it new. Like others, I've had the "Check Engine Light" come on because of O2 sensor clogging up. After several trips to the dealer, I became frustrated. The fault would happen when I drove s few miles to town for shopping and back home. I decided to try keeping the RPM above 1500 using the manual shift mode for these short/ no heavy towing trips. I have had very good results with no "check engine light" activation's. Question for you experts--- Is there a problem using the manual shift mode for these short trips?

No problem using the manual shift switch.Have you had the o2 sensor overlay harness installed yet? It will not solve the o2 sensors from sooting but will cut down or eliminate erroneous codes from setting
