I am not sure about this case, but there are a few vehicles already running the new protocol CAN. This is mandated to be standard by 2008. OBDII will become obsolete very soon

All,

They've changed the protocol.

It's no longer the ISO 9141 it's now the Variable Pulse With Modulation protocol. Same as GM.

That means that unless you have the adapter that supports multiple protocols you will not get any MSG's.

Hope this helps.

This is good info, Marco... thank you!:)

Protocol(s)

All,

When we talk about a certain vehicle we almost always tend to believe that it talks with only one protocol.

The truth is that this is not.

For example the VP trucks had the ISO and the VPW and CAN...

For the CR trucks the "main" protocol is non VPW but also ISO is used. Depends what one is looking for... .

Marco, thanks for the pointer, and with your information I'm on the air. I got Alex's tricom gateway and now the truck connects using VPW. woohoo!

So it looks like they indeed change in 04. Seems I remember somebody telling me they connected with the single ISO gateway to the 03
