I recently received a ticket for speeding. Is there a feature in my trucks computer that can be accessed that would tell me my fastest speed for a given day or time of day. My objective would be to use that evidence to defend myself in court, or to pay the fine and slow down. It was a radar gun that got me.

There is a data file that has the information, but it re-writes itself, and I don't know if it has a date/time stamp. The only thing that I know that can pull the info is the scan tool the dealers have and even then, good luck finding one who knows how, and will do it.

Evidently you wern't speeding or you would not be asking.

Be careful, if you start playing exact's, so will the court. If the speed limit was 35, radar clocked you at 41, and you prove you were doing 36, you were speeding. Might get thrown out, might modified to what you just proved for them. All depends on the Judge's mood and the DA.

You might be better off if you have a reasonably clean record asking the DA when you go in for court for a 6 month to a year deferment.

The Deferment put's the charge on hold for the length of the deferment and if you get no more tickets during that time, the charges will be dropped. You will still have to pay the fines and court costs, but no points on your record.

If you don't have a good record, or the DA is a schmuck, get a lawyer.
