Just ran the codes on my truck and this one is uncommon to the transmission upgrade and smartcontroller. Is it something to worry about? It states: P 0622 Alternator Field No Switching Properly.

HMMMMMMM?

I am getting this code also along with some others, transmission related. Anyone have any clue what 0622 is caused by?

A friend of mine, TDR member FMcClaren who also has the DTT and Smart Controller, checked into this. Here is what he discovered:

A 12 volt source for the generater goes thru the relay DTT has us remove. No relay -No source to the gen. That's why we get the 0622. Why everything works without it I don't know. I had to replace my batteries because one was leaking. Maybe overcharged ? I don't have enough know how to really get into it. It would be nice to find out.

Unfortuately this is all I know as well. Frank confirmed the codes are "normal" when using the smart controller with Bill at DTT, I also confirmed this with Stephan. The relay Frank refers to is in the PDC under the hood. Hope this helps.

Also had the same code plus others. A few days after install of the smart controller on the way to work the transmission did some strange shifting. Checked codes in the evening

622-alternator field improper swithching

743-Tcc solenoid/Trans Relay Circuits

753-Trans 3-4 Shift sol/trans relay circuits

1765-Trans 12 volt supply relay control circuit

No problems since that one time about a year ago but the codes are still there, not sure how to reset.

Well, I think we found the fix for my truck setting the P0622 code. During the install of the ATS Trans Commander the wire for the aux power for the transmission relay was hooked up. After a few calls to the trans installer and ATS it was decided that this wire does not need to be connected for the 47re but does for the 48re. This morning we disconnected the aux power, disconnected the batteries to clear the codes in the pcu, reconnected the batteries after about 20 min with the key in the 'on' position. Turned the key off, reconnected the batteries, checked for codes, P0622 gone, started the truck, turned the truck off, checked for codes, P0622 still gone. CEL light now goes out after starting the truck. Code is still gone. Have started the truck over ten times with out the CEL staying on.

So, it appears that if you have an aftermarket way of locking up your tc, check to see if you have aux power going to the trans relay, its under the hood in the fuse box. I could hear mine switching with the key 'on' but not started. By removing this from my truck, I eleminated the P0622 problem.

Time will tell if it is a permenant fix.
