Has anybody figured out how to replace the passenger side mirror with a flat one. I don't know why they would put one that lies to you on a truck.

Try a auto glass shop. Will the left side mirror fit in the right side housing? I hate it too.

A little off topic illflem but, the Powervision mirrors have the same type of mirror in the passenger side unit as the driver side. I talked to a Powervision rep. at the Timberline Dodge rally last month and he assured me the mirrors WILL HAVE the heated feature incorporated into them sometime this winter. The heated mirrors will be of a slightly new design with the shape of the mirror appearing somewhat different than their current model. They will also be offering a retro. kit for all of you that have purchased the current style of Powervision mirrors. #ad

The first mod made to my truck was to go to the glass shop and get a flat mirror installed on the passenger side. They just broke the glass and cut me a new one out of flat stock. $15. I use a small spot on both sides to take care of the blind spots.

Come on - you guys don't like the fun-house mirrors? #ad

I was wondering why there isn't a built in "blind spot" mirror. My Ducati has this feature and VW's in Germany have had this feature for nearly 10 years! There is a vertical line on the outer edge of the mirror. The mirror almost seems to be notched and bent outward a little at this point to offer you your standard line of sight and to see the blind spot... it works well, I was thinking this could be the next new project idea for the group. I'd get'em!

Thanks Joe,I'll try another glass shop. I went to two that told me they could only replace it with the concave mirror from Dodge. Could it be that some auto glass shops nowdays don't even know how to cut glass?I do have power mirrors,if that makes a difference.

illflem,

These guys I went to didn't even mention the concave mirror stuff. The first thing they did was look the mirror up in their books to see if the shape was the same on both sides (I think it was) and if they could get the mirror quickly. I think it was $50 or so and it would have taken a few days. The boss just said "to hell with it. Bill, cut him a mirror and let me know how long it took". Well, it took $15 worth of labor. They did have a pattern for the shape so cutting it was a piece of cake for a pro. The guy took a trash can, a burlap sack, and a hammer. Draped the sack over the mirrow with the trash can below. Whack! Scraped the pieces off and glued the new one on. Just like that! $15 please and I was out of there. Mine is a '95 with the power mirrors. Great for parking.

This is a moot point. The "smoke cloud" makes the right mirror unnecessary #ad
, except to keep the aerodynamics balanced out.

The glass shop I went to wouldn't do it themselves(DOT rules)but they cut one for me. I put a rag around my BB gun muzzle and shot the warped mirror out(I'm not hitting a $200 mirror with a hammer)!!Put the flat mirror in and a fisheye mirror in the lower, inside corner. CAUTION,SOME OBJECTS ARE LARGER THAN THEY APPEAR, even in the flat mirror, like PSD's shrinking out of sight!!!Craig

I have the exact same mirror on passenger side as the driver. Heated and power. This came stock with the truck.

When I posted earlier, I was touting the bubble mirrors (they're great), but my truck came stock with flat mirrors each side. No warped passenger mirror... ..... Joe

The last set of mirrors I had replaced under warranty were both flat. I appreciated that. The next time I wentto tow my trailer, my Ciba add-ons didn't fit, the mirrors were too small. Well, I hated those things , anyway. I'll just have to get something better now. #ad

My last truck had the "objects in mirror. . " bit, so I went to a friends body shop to ask about getting it changed. With out saying a word, he walked over to it took a look and whacked it with a wrench he had in his hand... Shocked H... out of me.
Then he cut a mirrow, stuck it in and I was out of there in about 15 min and he would accept no pay. The 01 came with flat glass both sides.

Dad smashed his out, got a good one from carquest, and glued it in himself.
I have to watch complaining about mine around him or he'll smash it too. I'm still chicken!
