Just sharing a couple interesting observations I made today. I had the starter off to replace my tapping lift pump and decided to pull the cover and take a quick look at the contacts. This is a Napa rebuilt and it has the large contact on the battery side so that is nice. The housing wore on my original starter allowing the drive to hang out just far enough to make contact with the ring gear, which is either . 020 or . 040 wider on the SBC after market flywheel.

I also discovered that lift pumps are about $86 cheaper from the last time I got one for someone about 4 years ago and they have a new part number (old: 3936316 - new: 4944710). I couldn't see any difference externally.
