My 47re is shifting in and out of O. D. I have read enough to know the most probable cause is the TPS and I have the test/adjustment steps. My question is, it is very erratic so when I test the TPS will it test good if it in it “on again” mode? Will it only test bad some of the time? I hope I made that understandable.

is it only doing it under light throttle and if you roll into it will it lock up and stay until you go back to light throttle to maintain speed? if so go at the tps and clean it internally and give it more initial voltage at idle...

if not service the brake switch first before anything else and make sure its not just barely making closed when the pedal is up, grab your meter and hit the leads and wiggle the pedal, I find most barely make closed when up and when old and worn its a problem in the system,

I added a piece of rubber on my break pedal arm to make the switch good and closed and not quiver in and out on bumpy roads..... then you can start to pull your hair out chasing the problem. good luck.

I don't see mention of an exhaust brake, but just FWIW the BD brake has a little microswitch right above the go-pedal. mine got a little worn so it needed a lot of cleaning and then worked right again. when i had an automatic that worn switch discoordinated the lockup... now it only activates the brake since the

slushbox is gone
