Probably a dumb question. I just had an EZ box put on my 02 quad cab. Before the EZ, I would always keep OD off when driving 55 or 60. (not enough power) But with the EZ, I have plenty of power at those speed with only about 1500 rpm. Did I mention that I have an automatic ? Well, at that low rpm, am I in danger of harming the transmission (flat or hill) if I am unloaded ? Also, if I am pulling my 19ft camper trailer (less than 4000lbs), am I in danger of transmission damage (that speed or even 70 or more ?)

If you don't want to do a full DTT upgrade or if you don't have the cash, I would recommend at least a Valve Body from DTT. It will address all the weak points in your V/B and will help the transmission last a bunch longer. An EZ and a V/B combo are a great improvement, My 2 pennies worth!

When towing with a stock transmission keep it out of OD until you reach cruiseing speeds then put it in OD. Keep your rpm's above 1700. When pulling hills take it out of OD until you crest the top then back into OD.

Unloaded if you can not cruise at speeds above 65 MPH it is o. k. to drive in OD at 55 to 65 MPH but use the throttle with common sence, do not use full throttle to gain speed at that low of speed and RPM's.

My experience: I had an EZ before I had my transmission done (DTT). Loved the EZ but on teardown the OD stuff in the transmission (clutches etc... ) were wore out pretty bad from runnin OD on at lower speeds. It was recomended by my DTT installer (see sig) to keep the OD off below 50 MPH empty and use some common sense when loaded, OD off below 50, goin up hills, passing, etc... You can always post this question or do a search in the discussion forum on Bill Kondolays sight (DTT)

What Ronsram said, plus if you do not have the EZ jumper set to position #1 (the mildest setting) you may want to consider that. I've found that while towing (and thats before I had injectors, but did have the box) that the EZ on the factory setting #3 (most agressive setting) cause the engine to hammer some and be jerkier at the low RPM's because of the timing advance. 24valve engines don't mind the higher RPMs. I NEVER tow in OD with my 8500# 5ver cause I don't want to drive 65-70 to get the RPMs up. Hope this helps.
