Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Odd Question? Exhuast sound?

To be honest (im a new member) I own 3 Fords and im selling one 2004 F-350 6. 0ltr diesel



I am wanting to buy a dodge ... im looking to find the cummins year model that sounds most like a tractor trailer?



My observations: 12V has loudest idle but sounds most like a tractor trailer

24V (earlier models) had a quieter idle but sounded alot like a tractor trailer under excelleration until higher RPM's I kinda think the 12V sounds better at lhigher RPM's And going through the gears.



Any insite? I know this is a odd one! I just want my next truck to sound like a REAL BIG truck!

Nothing odd about your question, every day I used to think how I could make my 97 12v louder and cooler sounding and without putting a stack through your hood the loudest thing you could do is put a 5in or bigger ,if it will fit,exhaust from the bottom of your downpipe and send it out (90degrees) in front of your dually wheel. You will hear turbo whistling but it will roar and rumble like you have a Cummins Signature 600 under the hood when you drive by people!
