OK - I've had some trouble in the past with having the key turn off when I put the truck in park... . I mean th eselector would not go far enough to the left to release the key. It would go far enough if I took th etranny lever and moved it manually to the left and turned the key... I felt that was an adjustment on the linkage = which I did an that pretty much solved that problem.

NOW several times this past week when I try to start the truck - I get a click - like a solonoid issue and I hold the lever and it will start. Then this AM I had to put truck in neutral..... Now this doesn't happen all the time and it just started two days ago.

Could this be a neutral safety switch and or the starter going south - or what do you think??????

The old 727 had a strip of plastic bradded to the rail that operated the neutral switch/backup lights that would get loose and cause similar problems, don't know if the newer stuff has that or not but it sounds like the switch or the rail that operates it to me. The switch is screwed into the side of the transmission just behind where the shift lever hooks up, to access the rail you would have to pull the valve body. bg
