Out poking around town today with the wife and kiddos and started seeing some strange action on the trans temp guage. . I typically see 120-145 regardless of what I am doing ( I will admit I bought the truck in September and this is by far the hotest temps I have run the truck in to date at near 95*) but today all of the sudden I am seeing eradic temp spike up to 200* with a low run in the 150* range. The temperature seems to correspond and change fairly quickly with inputs from the go pedal. My concern is that I may have a developing problem, but I didnt notice anything while bouncing around yesterday. I checked the fluid today while warm and at idle and everything appeared to be well within the green. The truck has 18,000 miles on the original trans fluid. I run the Smarty on Level 3 with Moderate Torque Management. The truck has not seen any serious towing, 26ft bumper tow travel trailer is her hardest duty, an even then its just on the flats here around south TX. Could the trans fluid be used up and ready for change already? Is it more probable that I have guage problem? (guage sensor is in the output line, full bore fitting with no restrictions).
