Alrighty then... I've got a 2001 3500 cummins that will not run. I've replaced the transfer pump and both batteries. When you turn the key on, after a few seconds the odometer flashes 4 times and then it reads no bus. It appears that the pump isnt getting any power. There is no wait to start light coming on. It acts as if the start up sequence isnt being activated. Any ideas??? I'm at a loss. The truck sat for almost two years without being ran. Cant think of anything else. Thanks J

I would try disconnecting the VP connection and the ECM connection and re-doing them. Somewhere it sounds like you have bad communications. The fact that you have no wait to start light usually means the ECM is bad but in your case I would guess maybe the connections are bad.

That is where I'd start too... . check/clean & dielectric grease on all connectors on pcm/ecm, injection pump, ground wires etc. Check all fuses, relays etc.

I dont have the truck in front of me currently, but i'll check all those connections shortly. One thought... . Is it possible for the ecm to lose its memory from sitting an extended period of time with not power? I've heard that it can and that it can't, so I really dont know... The truck ran, was parked for about a year plus a couple months. We tried to jump start the truck but it never would run after that. But like I said, no fuel pump... no relays clicking... a whole lotta notta.

Hey fella's, switched frame on 99 tcd and you think "no bus" would leave me alone? It was in accident so frame bent. Soon to run again but I went to prime fuel system and no transfer pump/ preheater/ or wait to start... gotta start somewhere 1)Grounds 2) Connection cleanings. Will an obd reader tell me of the circuit in question or a cummins link to computer? Any thoughts? Oh and I'm stock right now plus a dtt trans and all was fine before.

Critters maybe?

Mice chewed through my wiring. #@$%!It hadn't even been sitting very long, maybe a week or two. Might be worth checking out.

Since then we've had a family of great horned owls move in behind the house and we haven't had a rodent problem since.
