Harvey, Checked in with Seth today, hubodometer arrived at our place this morning with the mileage set to 29,092 as ordered. He is turning it around and sending it your way today. So far, so good.
Mike.
I just had a new gooseneck trailer built in Oklahoma. Looked around looking an odometer and found it on the shelf locally. It cost $49 and they programmed it for my size tires. Had to order the mounting bracket from the factory in Texas. The bracket cost $12 and UPS charged $8. Took it with me to pick the new trailer up. These things are shipped in the sleep mode and you have to wake them up. Supposed to shake it violently for a few seconds to wake it up. It gives 120 seconds to install it before it starts counting revolutiions. They didn't program it exactly right and it was 10% or more on the slow side. I went back to the store and told the guy who sold it to me and he programmed another one correctly. He gave the new one to me and asked that I bring the other one back. I had the mileage from the factory from the truck odometer so he programmed that in. Installed the new one and it is as close as it can be. Read the instructions after I installed it and the odometer can only be programmed once. When I took the first one back I offered to pay for it and told the counterman what the book stated about that. He would not take any money and said that he would take care of that. I thought that he was very nice about that and I really like the odometer and I believe that it is within 1% of the truck odometer. They can be programmed to also work as a trip odometer. Mine must not have been programmed in for that. It has a little window on the front and when it is covered for a few seconds it becomes a trip odometer. Don't think that I will buy another one to get that feature but it sure is nice to see exactly what the miles are without having to keep it in a book on each trip. The trailer factory told me that they had never had anyone ask to have one installed and that they had no idea where to get them.
