My odometer is totally dead, it would halfway work then it just went kaput.

It really aggravates me to not know my mileage. The speedometer works fine, so is the problem in the back of the guage assembly?? I couldn't tell for sure from reading the archives, how can this be fixed?? Thanks

Steve,

My 90 did the same thing. I took the speedo apart and found that there is a litlle plastic gear in there that is blue that was missing one tooth. I looked high and low for one, but everyone who builds these things wants you to send it to them to rebuild for $200-300. They all claim that something is binding inside the speedo head, so they need to rebuild it to make sure it doesn't do it again.

Hope this helps,

Jim

My 89 did that, found the nut on the transmission shaft worked loose and let the yoke slide back, which let the gear get out of mesh, after I torqued it back up all was well. JMTCW

My sons '90 did the same thing. After going through the whole system and eliminating everything it came back to the Speedo head. He decided not to fix it at this point, he has a long commute and his Ins. company looks at the mileage every year ;)
