Anyone know if the Dodge cruise control can be added easily to current model Cummins trucks by the dealer after the fact?

And is there an after-market cruise control out there that might be better?

I was trying to keep the price down as this is purely a hobby support vehical, but I've a feeling I'm going to miss the cruise.

Shoulda' gone for the SLT...

I have the 2001 accessory catalog, and cruise control is not listed. Remote door locks, security systems, and radios are, but not cruise. That doesn't mean that it may not be available though. Check with the parts dept. at your dealer. Is it too late to change your order?

At least you ordered the correct engine and transmission the first time.

Good Luck

CDitrani, Just curious, what dealer did you purchase from (if you bought new). Maybe I'll see ya smokin' around Cambridge sometime... .

Ok, I just read your sig.

Dealer

Ordered from Peter Fuller Dodge. Have no opinion of them yet other than they seem to suck less than the others I talked to.

can't you order cruise with the st?. . i was lookin into ordering a st chassis cab and i speced out cruise . . so its available if yours is on order i would add it to the build sheet quick...

cc

aftermarket cruise controls are plentiful, if you can't add cruise to the order. try jcwhitney for starters. if you don't have a vacuum pump(not sure HO does), you can get cc with an electric servo as an add on for a diesel. jcwhitney isn't a bad place to start looking.

Cruise

I have no idea how this applies to our engines, but:

When I bought my 1500 ST a few years ago, I wanted to add cruise. I wanted the "factory look" so I went to the dealer. He helped me put the parts together. It was pretty simple to install.

Just mounted the servo (wiring harness was already there from the factory), connect the vacume (sp) line, the throttle cable, mounted the buttons on the steering wheel and replaced the clock spring. Done in about 2 hours and I'm REAL slow at this stuff.

Just FYI

Good luck!
