Getting ready to yank the dash on my 04. 5 for HVAC repairs.

Should I buy the upgraded OEM parts?

Or is Heater Treater the way to?

I just put in the heater treater doors. My brother in law is a tech at a Dodge dealer and said the upgraded oem are still plastic, so that's why I did the heater treaters.

From what I read at the time, the new Dodge doors are exactly the same as the old ones. The difference was in the box around the doors that has better stops to keep the doors from over traveling. It's a pity it didn't help.
Another vote for heater treater.

Don't forget if you have dual A/C controls Heater Treater will convert it to single controls. I plan on using a combo of both HT and Mopar on my Laramie. From their website:

Dodge Ram 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, blend door auto AC heat replacement part

(If your RAM is dual control(separate control for passenger and driver's sides) the HeaterTreater will connect the blend doors together and convert the system from dual control to single control from the driver's side knob. The back motor that controls the passenger side blend door is only accessible if the plenum box is removed. For a dual control RAM, this is a compromise between repair difficulty/cost and functionality. For the single control, the system will operate exactly as it did when new. )

Yep. . mine had one of the old styles when new. Failed under warranty and was replaced with the "UPGRADE" part... it failed quicker than the original part... Now has H. T. recirc door... the rest of the HT doors are laying on the work bench just waiting for them to fail... .

You can call them and they will send what you need to maintain the dual control feature, just costs more $.
