Anyone have a reference for the capacity of the OEM rear leaf springs on the 2006 and 2007 3500 5.9 CTD auto transmission 4x4 long wheel base duallies? Attached is a pic showing the 3 leaf pack with the lower helper spring and the two upper overload springs.

From what I have found the main leaves are rated at 2800lbs and the overloads at 1300lbs. That doesn’t add up to enough for the axle rating on a DRW (8200 vs 9000) but that may not include the main lower overload. I’ve found multiple sources stating that info.

FWIW ditch the lower stable loads. If you need them you’re very overloaded, and if you don’t need them they just damage the leaf springs.

Thanks for the reply.

I saw various weight ratings for the four lower springs as a unit as well as the two upper springs as a unit. I have not been able to find any weight rating for the mopar pn 52113320AE which is all six leafs as a single unit.

From the weight ratings we have found it seems the springs are the weak link in the rear suspension on these duallies. The stock tires, wheels and axle are each rated over 9,000 lbs.

The frame is also likely part of the equation for the weight rating. The frame was upgraded in 13 and the RAWR was increased, while the springs, axle, and wheels/tires remained the same.
