OEM y2k brakes still good at 64k

I'm impressed, and with just 25k on the clock on my 2001, admittedly with quite a few "tow miles", and an Exhaust brake, I have about half the brake pad material left. How much meat is left on them (teflon ) pads?

Not sure how much is left, had the truck in for a front end alignment and had em check the pads while it was on the rack. Due for mandatory state inspection in Nov. will re-check at that time as long as everything is working fine till then.

I have 60,000 miles on my '01. 5, and have about half the pad left, 'course... ... ... ... I got a manual.

What be the wear limit spec?

I jest looked at mine and have less than . 250 on both inside pads, little over . 300 on outsides.



48k miles and 6 speed 2WD.



I'm thinkin' replace them. They're $84 at the local parts house, hate to think what DC gets for them. Might try Geno's.

Mine made it to 54k. They were into the rotor when I checked them. Had the brake job done. Also made a mistake with the bearings in the hub. The Service facility told me the seals were leaking greese and needed replacement. I knew no better. 300 bucks later I had new bearings and hubs. Posted my disappointment on TDR. One of the members sent me to a Service Bulletin that basically said some grease leakage around the seals is normal. My Service guy owns me some work. I gave him the

Service Bulletin. I have a spare set of hubs with bearings if anyone gets in a tight.

My '00/6spd is now at 77,000mi and I still have 9mm of pad thickness left. Incredible ain't it? I used to have an exhaust brake for about 35,000 somewhere in the middle, but I don't downshift into stops either.



Even though I have plenty of pad thickness, my pads are now making an annoying squealing sound so I'm going to change them for a set of carbomet pads.

Older trucks???

I replaced my front pucks at 107,000... still had nearly 1/8 inch on the thinnest one. I pull a 13,000 lb 5er a LOT, with a lot of trips over the Rockies. Still have lots of rear brake lining left. Love tha Jake brake

I have 110 K on mine as an RV delivery driver.

I do have a Jac Brake and the pads still have about 1/2 life left.
