My truck is silver, I have noticed the ones that have rusted are either silver or white. What color is your or truck or the affected body panel?

Black?

Silver?

Blue?

Red?

Green?

White?

Yellow?

HQ=High Quality

My truck is solid blue. It is only the bottom of the drivers door that is rusting. What I hate, I never let my truck get dirty. It has amost 100,000 miles, and the engine as clean as the day I picked it up. The truck gets waxed atleast once a week, weather permitting.

My truck is by far not perfect, but it should not be rusting out yet. I would not feel so bad if I never washed it, but it is well cared for.

The $#^&* driver's side door on my '94 is all rusted out... . passenger side has started but isn't anywhere near as bad.

The '98 (Intense Blue) is getting crusty on the driver's side door lip at the bottom...

Dodge appears to have had a failure with the primer system on their trucks. My '97 developed bazillions of little blisters in the paint on the horizontal surfaces (hood, roof), after investigation it appears that the primer gets zapped by UV and a reaction takes place that causes corrosion or such to produce a "bubble" in the paint. They have steadily grown larger, but I have not had time to fix it yet. Apparently when the bubbles "join up", the paint will start coming off in sheets.

Estimate from a body shop to repaint was nearly $3K, they said it would have to be taken down to bare metal and new primer put on.

Perhaps the corrosion problems on your trucks are caused by a similar primer failure, shouldn't be rusting through that fast on such a recent vintage truck...

My truck is green/silver starting to rust on both doors pass and drivers. bummer I wonder if dodge will fix it if enough people complain? Did not dodge have other paint problems in the past?

My truck is rusing along the rocker panel just behind the drivers door in the extended cab area. Doors... ya the bottoms have seen better days.

The truck is white with a LeRoys Customs paint job... of course above the rust.

And i thought mine was the only one rusting at the bottome of the door lips (edge) mine was the right rear quad door which was really bad, got the POR15 and did my best haven't looked at in a while im trying not to...

Mine is also Driftwood(could say grey or silver i guess also)

Count me in on the driver side door rust! Have a blister forming on the bottom edge. Time to get the sand blaster and do some work. Sucks when a 4 year old vehicle starts rusting!

So...

What can we do to help stop the rust? Smearing grease on the door rust of the '94 seemed to slow it down a little bit... maybe I should have used AMSOIL grease. :)

rust or replace

My 96 2500 has developed drivers side door rust. The front drivers side now has 3 bubbles of paint waiting to happen.

Is anyone going ask, FIX OR REPLACE?

Should this be a seperate thread?
