I am looking into getting a Front End Replacement/Off Road Bumper when I get home from Iraq in a few weeks. I saw the thread below about the Road Armor bumpers and am not so sure if I want one of that brand now, they do look nice though. What brands do you all reccomend? And what ones are the best quality for the price? Any help would be appreciated.

03' SLT. Graphite, QC, 4X4, 6-spd. H. O. M2-A2 ODS. Bradley Fighting Vehcle, VT-903 Cummins, 600 H. P. My Cummins away from Cummins!

There are a variety of brands out there. My vote is for the Denver Off Road. Layne doesnt have a website so you have to call but there are some members here that have pictures of theirs in the gallery. I think Mactruck had pictures of his. Laynes are all aluminum weigh in about 130lbs. He hand makes them and his work is top quality.

Some other brands are

Reunel http://www.reunel.com/

Ranchhand http://www.ranchhand.com/

Ute http://www.uteltd.com/

ARB http://www.arbusa.com/

There are many more but cant think of them off the top of my head.

Hey JJuday, what unit are you in, and where are you in Iraq? You are going to be getting home around the same time I am. Oo. Oo. :D Im at War Eagle with Task Force 1-12.

Hey Cowboy 832. I am in TF- 1-9 Cav. at FOB Independence. Used to be called Head Hunter. Need a Ft. Hood Diesel club! LOL. See you there.

RussW. 1911,

Thanks for your reply about the Rocking Ranch (or whatever it is) front bumper replacements.

I have a similar front-end replacement on my 91. 5, W-250 from Brown's Welding in New Braunfels, TX. I think there is more metal in that bumper than the rest of the truck. Real Stout! Made with schedule 40 pipe.

I, recently, went to the SEMA Show, in Las Vegas and saw a number of replacement bumpers made with much lighter, thinner metal and some made with a composite material that is extremely light. I don't think any of these are anywhere as strong as the schedule 40 bumpers. These new ones look good but, I don't think they will provide anywhere near the protection.

The Rocking Ranch product advertises the use of the schedule 40 metal.

There are a number of companies, in Texas especially, that make this style of front-end replacement. My understanding is that they were originally designed to protect vehicles from the Whitetail Deer which are everywhere in parts of Texas. They, aparently, do a very good job.

The purpose of this reply is to alert those interested in this style of bumper that much lighter duty products are out there, if that's what you want but, if you want a STRONG bumper, you had better check with the manufacturer to make sure they are using the schedule 40 pipe.

Thanks for telling us about the Rocking Ranch product. I was not aware of them.

Thanks, Again. Joe F. (Buffalo).

Hi, RussW1911,

I recieved your PM and tried to PM you back 3 different times and E-mail you once.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but, the messages don't seem to be getting through, I think. Please let me know if you are getting them.

Basically, I just wanted to thank you for your message.

Again, please let me know if you are getting the PM's and the E-mail.

Sorry th hi-jack this thread but, didn't know any other way to get a message through.

Joe F. (Buffalo)

Look at UTE Bullbar which is available for 3rd gens. The fit, finish, weld quality are some of the best I've seen. 3/8 aluminum for the main structure and doesn't put 300 lbs hanging on the end of your frame rails. Also compliments the factory chrome grille.

Not to change the subject but to all of you protecting us - A heartfelt Thank You!

If you enjoy your freedom - Thank a Vet.
