off road diesel bulk tank outside

Thinking about setting up a 275 gal tank for off road diesel here at the barn outside for the tractor instead of lugging 5 gal at a time. Was wondering if i would have a problem with the cold temps here in ma with gelling and condensation in the tank during the winter. I will add power service or howes to help mabey double strength but will the elect pump and tank filter give me trouble on the coldest days? It will take me about 3 months to use the 275 up so I dont think it will go stale. But just worried about freezing and gelling.

If your off road fuel is'nt already winterized from the supplier than you can blend in 10% #1 diesel or up to 40% #1 diesel (same as Kerosene) depending how cold it gets this winter.

It really depends on the supplier.

I used to put a jar of fuel out on my back deck a few years back, and check it in the morning just before starting up.

It got down to around 0 F here and I never had a problem.

Dont worry about it going "stale". My 550 has fuel in it that's been there well over a year. If it's conditioned well, and dont get any water it it, it shouldnt be a problem for at least a few years.

Just put your additive in prior to filling so it gets thoroughly mixed. Once it flows through the pump and filter you should have no problems. I treat my ag fuel year round especially since my one tractor is an 83' and I want good lubricity for the pump. I have been using PFTF at the recommended dose summer or winter.
