There are groups out there that HATE us. They resort to unbelievable tactics to curtail the use of trails that are OHV approved. Sabotaging trails is becoming common. I've heard of large rocks place in the middle of singletrack and wires and trees placed strategically across trails in the hope of injuring off roaders.

Check out the "testimonies" of some of these people. This is a group in Utah.

What a bunch of hypocrites and self centered whiney left winged liberal pricks. If you read, every single of of these people is an offroader who won't admit it. What these idiots don't realize is that if an area is closed as wilderness its closed to EVERYONE, them included. I want my solitude and I want it all for myself... I should be able to drive out to the wilderness but no one should be able to. If you want that then buy the Dam land and you can do want you want with it.

I couldn't put it better myself...

I agree that there should be non-motorized use trails. And there should be motorized use trails. Something for everyone. Not everything for someone. I support OHV. And if I'm ever injured because of a trap someone sets up they better pray, and I mean pray I never find out who they are.

On edit: I just emailed SUWA and asked for all the info they could mail me (snail mail) and some extra to "pass out" to my friends. If everyone would request paper info from all these groups their funds would be lower than if they didn't send it out.

What they're doing around here is getting old people to put land into a "trust" for groups like the Sierra Club. It seems that only THEY know best how to enjoy the great outdoors. They love nature... . but apparently man is not part of nature. It would be great if they were all eaten by large furry carnivores.

I am from Utah, and I can tell you first hand how goofy these people are. My family runs approx 650 head of cows on 18,000 acres of our own deeded land. These nuts are now trying to limit the amount of cattle that can be run per acre of ground On private land. The Son of a B####en Utah Wild A-Holes are trying to stick their noses into private agriculture. Go figure. They are and have been after the Moab Jeep safari for many years now. Now that other states want to bring Nuclear waste to store in our desert, I wonder where they are. Never mind that statement. I know where they are. They are too busy hassleing the local Ranchers to deal with a real problem. It seems they can't even build a highway in this state without these nuts jumping in and suing the state. Just one of my rants with these goofballs.

Overgrazing Cows like yours are responsible for the Grand Canyon. :-laf

However, if you want to see it, go quick, because they are trying to limit people traffic, too much erosion!!

They should open it to motor vehicles, wouldn't more eroision make it GRANDER???? :D :D :D

These numb nuts want to save us back to the stone age. One Day This country will not be able to feed its people and groups like the SUWA are going to say "Damn now what"?

A few well placed rounds would put a stop to their BS. We've been fighting them for Jeep Safari for years, you wouldn't believe how much money the club spends to deal with these POS. You can join the Blue Ribbon coalition, United 4WD and other groups to fight these pricks. What have they and PETA ever done to help anything? Do they plant trees? Do they manage game populations? Do they fix errosion on trails? Do any of them do one positive thing? NO. They bytch and moan and obstruct.

I've been trying to coger up a way to make a nail pad that would rip the *&%&^& out of ATV tires, yet be friendly to hikers, horses, and such like.

Also have considered carrying a box cutter to slash the begeeses out of the side walls. Unfortunately, the only time the motorized couch potatos are off the mechanized locust hords is to empty the beer out of their bloated bladders or leave a dump and toilet paper laying about.

Any suggestions ;) :-laf

Of course, I just fume, mutter, and imagine ungodly thoughts. Sigh, the constraints of trying to WWJD.

What gets me worked up is:

ATV tracks around closed gates.

Brand new ATV tracks starting off across country - the beginnings of another two track.

ATV tracks across riparian areas.

Personally, I think it puts game at a huge disadvantage both by opening up country that would otherwise be refugia, by harrassment, and by the mobility and speed of an ATV.

Finally, the folks taking random shots just for BSing. :-laf

Heard a great one about the PeTA hyporcrites last night on the radio. Imagine picking pets up to find homes for - and then killing them before you even give them a chance.

Trails need to be wider so people can walk while holding hands or so fat people can walk.

Instead of a permit system or regulations, the Forest Service needs to reduce worldwide population growth to limit the number of visitors to wilderness.

Ban walking sticks in wilderness. Hikers that use walking sticks are more likely to chase animals.

All the mile markers are missing this year.

Found a smoldering cigarette left by a horse.

Trail needs to be reconstructed. Please avoid building trails that go uphill.

Too many bugs and leeches and spiders and spiderwebs. Please spray the wilderness to rid the area of these pests.

Please pave the trails so they can be plowed of snow during the winter.

Chairlifts need to be in some places so that we can get to wonderful views without having to hike to them.

The coyotes made too much noise last night and kept me awake. Please eradicate these annoying animals.

A small deer came into my camp and stole my jar of pickles. Is there a way I can get reimbursed? Please call ___ ___ ____.

Reflectors need to be placed on trees every 50 feet, so people can hike at night with flashlights.

Escalators would help on steep uphill sections.

Need more signs to keep area pristine.

A McDonalds would be nice at the trailhead.

The places where trails do not exist are not well marked.

I brought lots of sandwich makings, but forgot bread. If you have extra bread, leave it in the yellow tent at V Lake.

Too many rocks in the mountains.

Beyond myself somewhere, I await my arrival

Nothing against you AB but this fits the mind set of the people that wrote those comments

Reminds me of an actual letter I received during NEPA (don't ask  ) scoping about reclamation work on salt sites in the Teton Wilderness. Fellow wrote that he was definately against driving trucks into the wilderness and dumping salt. :-laf
