Cummins, Inc. Officially Recommends Power Service(R) Diesel Kleen +Cetane and Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost For Optimized Engine Performance2 hours 26 minutes ago - DJNF
WEATHERFORD, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2017-- In a historic industry move, Cummins, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of diesel engines, (NYSE:CMI) now officially endorses and recommends two Power Service products -- Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost and Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost -- for use in diesel engines. The announcement comes after significant internal testing concluded both products meet Cummins(R) requirements, becoming the first fuel additive products that Cummins Inc. has ever officially recommended in the marketplace.

I use DFS as anti-gel in the winter. About every other year, I'll run one tank in the summer with DK just to keep things tidy. In both cases, I've never experienced any gain in power or performance from the cetane boost in the 2005 - although I did notice some improvement in my 1996. Likely due to the difference between the fully mechanical 12-valve vs the fully electronic ISB.

Just dumped a bottle of this in my 03 on Monday. After about 50 miles it seems to idle a lot smoother. No significant power gain as far as I can tell. If it just keeps the injectors clean I'll be happy.

Wal-Mart does seem to have the lowest price around here.

Wasn't officially recommended. But Stanadyne has been meeting Cummins cleanliness testing for many years. Even before the ISB came about.

But I agree it is the danger of bugs in the fuel that made them finally endorse. I have been putting a few tablespoons of PS Bioklean in every 6 months or so. Biokleen is a more concentrated dual stage bug killer. I also put an occasional bottle of stanadyne or OptiLube XPD. But over-use of additives probably is not a great idea.

Well I'm glad it's "Officially Endorsed" as we have been happily dumping it into all brands of trucks and equipment fuel tanks for years, DPF equipped engines included.

It's been ok to do so right along if it was needed....Unofficially of course....

Safe for all diesel engines with advanced emission control devices.

Wonder if this will cause a spike in tin foil prices?

Probabaly won't have any effect on tin foil prices. Unless they run out of aluminum foil and have to start reverting to tin.

Kind of prophetic, doing it all those years when it wasn't "official" yet. :)

I noticed that the "911" product was not mentioned. I do get concerned when driver's substitute that for the regular Power Service and there is no need to do so.

"911" is intended for gelled fuel or extreme cold weather that brings a high probability of gelling. We try to discourage the practice but they don't always listen.
