Windows Antivirus 2008-can't get rid of it!

Finally I have everything together for a total repainting of the truck. Will be a complete strip to metal, prime and paint. Keeping the same Driftwood color just ALOT better. My aluminum running boards will get Line-X as well as the bed and along the bed rails and top of the tailgate. The tailgate will look like a 3rd gen all clean as well as the tailgate latch moved to the inside, will be nothing but the light bar. The antenna will get shaved off the front fender so nothing on the sides but the moulding, no badges and a new windshield. Factory towing mirrors applied, the flip up type of course.

Total cost around 4k to get it all done, the Line-X will be extra. The folks doing the work have several show vehicles to their credit and came very highly recommended. Have to live without the truck for around a possible 3 weeks maybe less. Will get some before pictures as well as after. Early Christmas present for me. Yeah I could put the money into a newer truck but why? My truck runs like a top just needs to be freshened up, after this I will start working on the interior. Truck goes to the shop this Monday and will have it back in time for the fishing trip to Colorado in late September.

If you can swing it, you should get Line-x sprayed on the rockers too. It not only looks good, it protects them from rock chips.

Definitely thinking about it. This has been in the works for at least a year. Looking into a cover also due to the locomotives at work spewing oil out of the exhaust. Every vehicle in the parking lot looks like it has black dots all over them.

Hello SHobbs,

congrats on the news. May i offer something to consider? I had a incedent w/ my truck in late June. See my post "oh the carnage" for details. As it turned out, my insurance settlement was enough to cover painting the whole truck. I was going to repaint it the Atlantic blue color it is, buit changed my mind and was considering the new color blue that dodge uses. I ended up seeing a new PT Cruiser in the must beautiful blue "Surf Blue Pearl" To make a long story short, After 6 long weeks "120 hours of body work" later i have the most beautiful CTD in the world. What i am saying is you only have one shot at this and why make it like all the other trucks out their that are Driftwood? It is a nice color don't get me wrong. But why not consider something else?

Here are a few pics of my baby

If you can, take photos as you go so we can enjoy and see the amount of work you put into this truck. Thanks!!

Diesel Dan, what a great paint job, to me very original, first thing I thought was, 'should be a great deterrent to vehicle theft' great Looks and Security to boot. (if you're going to paint it, at least make it worth while'. Thanks for such pleasant rewarding views.

Diesel Dan,

Very nice truck. I thought about another color but with the work involved I changed my mind. As you stated 6 weeks and 120 hrs. in labor can get pricey. Not that it would take that long with mine but changing the outside also involves the places you see with doors and hood open. I found out Sunday that the bed is coming off so the entire cab can get sprayed so it sounds like a good time to do a draw straw. Got to find out how long the bed will be off first.

dclassens,

I have two before shots and will try to get some of the work in progress. This is just the beginning, as stated the interior is next. It will be Wednesday before I can get to the shop which is nearly 2 hours away in Denison Tx. The guy doing the body work told me not to freak out when I get to the shop after seeing everything that has been removed.

SHobbs,

The 120 hrs was mostly body work from when my truck opened up a can of whoop-*** on a power pole. the shell was pretty much destroyed but instead of spending $2500 to replace it my buddy, who has the repair shop, fixed it instead. this allowed me to get the rear bumper for free. Since my truck was a darker blue (Atlantic) we opted to not paint the door jams and under the hood. you can't see it unless you are looking for it. If you change the color w/o going radically different, You can get away w/o painting the jams.

Just food for thought as you only go to this dance once... ...

Thanks DJW, i am getting much pleasure from it as well...

DD,

I don't have a clue as to another color I would want, lol. If it was not for the back pay that I have received this month this would have never happened. Everything is getting done with no money out of my pocket, in a way.
