My 99' has developed severe blowby problems with high oil consumption in the last month. From what I've read of previous posts it appears I have worn rings. I bought the truck used with 54K miles and the turbo intake was filthy. The OEM filter didn't fit the stock box well and there was plenty of evidence of dust getting past the filter. That being said, beside the rings most likely being shot, what other troubles could I expect to hear about when the truck goes in for an estimate @ Cummins. The engine runs well and has plenty of power. I know the previous owner and have observed that he doesn't seem to ever service his new truck either. I'm hanging onto my wallet and will await any responses. I need a good, hardworking, long lasting engine... ... ... I took a gamble and it appears I've been burned! :{ Thanks!

Wonder if any possibility of stuck rings - maybe a good engine flush and use of something especially refined for abused engines, or ones poorly maintained? Seems like awfully low miles to be badly worn, even on an abused engine...

I had the same problem with oil useage. It wasn't blow by it was the seal between the vacuum pump and the power steering pump. They do make a seal kit. Check the under side of the vacuum pump and you might get lucky.
