I say that in the positive sense since although the weapon is not the choice of riflemen it has a legendary reputation for functioning in adverse conditions like sand and mud- I put mine on the beach with a sick BHAF. A recent post by me stated that Cummins techs were appalled when they checked my engine and noted that the BHAF and melted off the mounting and the hose to the turbo looked like a sewer line- it was very dirty and they told me to expect some ring damage. Well I did oil analysis at that time- 23,800 miles with 5100 miles on Mopar 15w-40 to see if they were right. Well I think I dodged a bullet. This is what Fleetguard/ Monitor oil analysis says:
Wear Metals
Iron 21
Chromium 1
NIckel 0
Aluminum 1
Copper 3
Lead 2
Tin 0
Cadmium, Silver, Titanium , Vanadium 0
Contaminants
Silicon 5
Sodium 2
Potassium 1
Multi-Source Metals
Molybdenum 2
Antimony 1
Manganese 0
Lithium 0
Boron 149
Additive metals
Magnesium 1022
Calcium 753
Barium 0
Phosphorous 1097
Zinc 1278
Fuel 0. 5, Soot <. 1, Water,<. 1
Only comments were:" Data indicates no abnormal findings"- Not exactly a Blackstone report and they didn't do a VIS or TBN maybe because the oil was changed to Premium Blue Extreme. OIls used for the four changes before the analysis was two fills Premium Blue dino and two fills Mopar 15w-40. I am glad I didn't damage anything and look forward to analysis with CI-4 rated
Synthetic which I will keep in for 7500. Stock box with K &N is back in because the Cummins techs scared the crap out of me. I respect this engine for shaking off some sloppy filtering- I like this truck!!!!Oo. Oo.
