I've seen a bunch of companies out there offering their analysis of motor oil. But I don't know who offers the best bang for the buck. Can anyone shed some light on why they chose one kit over another.

PIAA 1200's, AMSOIL dual filter relocation system, Smittybuilt Stainless Steel Nerfs, Rhino Liner(Junk), K&N air filter(For Sale)15 year AMSOIL dealer. Time permitting, Soon to include Ultra-lite Pyro,0-50lbs boost, Trans temp in the pillar. Rancho 9000's with in cab adjustment.

I'm using Blackstone also. It's very difficult to tell which analysis would be the most accurate since you have no absolute to compare results with. Blackstone's reports are well laid out and informative. Their price seems reasonable and they send you additional sampling kits no charge.

It would be interesting to send samples from the same oil change to two or more testing companies and compare their results.

I use Blackstone also.

Has anyone used Oil Analyzers Inc? I picked up one of their sample kits from the local RV supply store, but had never heard them mentioned by anyone.

Paul,
I have used several different oil analysis labs over the past 15 years. I have settled with "Oil Analysers" because they have given me very good service, and the price of $13. 75 complete with postage is the best I have seen for a very complete oil analysis. Their telephone number is:1-715-395-0222.

It would be interesting to send samples from the same oil to several labs,as radixr said. In my farming operation we use soil and plant leaf analysis to determine fertilizer needs. An Ag magazine did a test where they sent the same soil samples to several different labs, none of the results came back the same. In fact if you followed the recommendations of one lab you would spend several hundred dollars per acre on fertilizer while with the next lab you would spend zero. Oil or soil the tests are done in much the same way with a spectrometer, high intensity light is shot at the sample and the wavelengths of reflected light are recorded. Every element gives off it's own wavelength and the intensity of each is the percent of the sample.

I've been using Blackstone for five years and am happy. The next few times I'll send another sample to a different lab and let you all know the result.
